Open Crops



All entries for The Panhandle-South Plains Fair are required to abide by the rules set forth in our annual Premium Book. The complete rules and regulations for each division of the Open Crops Exhibits are included in our Open Crops Section


SOUTH PLAINS COTTON, GRAINS & SEEDS, SHEAF GRAINS & SEEDS, GRAIN & SORGHUM HEADS, HAY (BALED), CORN, VEGETABLES, FRUIT & NUTS, MISCELLANEOUS CROPS

This department is open to everyone and entries will be accepted on Friday, 9/20 from 3pm to 7pm and on Saturday, 9/21 from 8am to 11am in the Merchants Building.


GIANT WATERMELON & PUMPKIN CONTEST

Entries will be entered in and subject to the same special rules of the Open Crop exhibits. If you think you have grown the largest Watermelon or Pumpkin in the Panhandle South Plains Area of Texas or Eastern New Mexico, bring it to the Fair and we will weigh it in. Weight minimum for the giant watermelon is 70 lbs. The following premiums will be paid by check for the heaviest Watermelon and Pumpkin. This will be a terminal show. All entries will become property of the South Plains Fair.
